Sometimes you can accidentally delete the important document. This is a very common issue, especially when working with big amounts of documents. The good news are that when documents, list items, folders, or even entire lists are deleted, they are simply flagged as removed and moved to the recycle Bin (the same way as in Windows). How to check documents in and out from a library.

One of the most useful set of features in SharePoint 2013 is document management features. These features will help you to simplify the process of creating, managing and organization content and increase the productivity of team work. Check in/check out functionality is one of the most useful when working in groups and it improves document management inside your libraries. Checking in/checking out documents allows you to modify an existing document in a library and notify your team that you are editing this file. This functionality provides a simple way to ensure that users inside your organization will not have the ability to work with the same document simultaneously. They will be aware what documents are locked for editing at the moment and they will have the ability to work with that documents later when these documents will be checked back in. What is more, users can see comments about changes made in documents left by the person who have checked these documents out.

Lists and libraries are at the core of SharePoint functionality in a collaborative environment. They are used to store information in SharePoint and organize it. Lists are used to store and manage structured data like tasks, links, contact information and libraries are used to store and manage documents.
Lists and Libraries are very similar in their creation and navigation. All of them can be created from Your Apps page. All of them include “new item” link at the top of the default page, below this link there is a set of views you can use to filter a list or library, search field for searching particular items and content area.
However, each list and library has been designed for the specific purpose. All lists and libraries are preconfigured to have a specific set of features, columns and views. At the Your Apps page you can see that each app has its own descriptive name and tile that also indicates the main purpose of the app.

How to add and edit SharePoint 2013 list items.

When you add new list app to the SharePoint 2013 site, it generates the necessary pages for successful information storing. These pages include the one to display the whole list in general, pages to view list items, edit them and add new list items. Additionally, you have new option - Quick edit, which enables you to edit items at the lists default page using a grid that strongly resembles to the Excel spreadsheet. When initially created, a list may have only one view or multiple views depending from the list type. For example, when creating Tasks list generated it will have 6 views - All Tasks (default), Calendar, Completed, Gantt Chart, Late Tasks, My Tasks, and Upcoming. And Announcement list will have only 1 All items view. In the List Settings, in views section you can view, modify view and add your own one if you need to display items according to your unique needs. If you have already created new list app and modified the settings you can start adding data to this list.
